Stairfuck Favorite 1000 Albums of 2011

Howdy. Here is my top albums of 2011 list, because I am trying to avoid work.

William Tyler
Bill Callahan
The Caretaker
Oneohtrix Point Never
The Field

That's not in any order, and the picture to the left is the cover of an album which is not in my top 1000 but is an honorable mention.

Looks like I've run out of steam. I'm truly a blogging machine, though

Sean McCann: The Capital

So: last weekend, I flew out to Georgia to work with Usher on some new material. While I'm in the midst of laying down a sick beat for his next hit single, we start shootin' the breeze about music. Out of nowhere, he starts spouting some bullshit about how (get this) Sadly, the Future no Longer is what it was by Leyland Kirby is the best drone release of the year. At first, I'm pretty tolerant of his opinion, if I do say so myself. I say, "Well, everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint. On that release, Kirby did manage to conjure an almost sublime feeling of otherworldly sadness. But if you ask me, The Capital by Sean McCann outclasses it both in concept and execution. His music combines elements of traditional composition with more experimental sounds characteristic of drone, resulting in a fantasy world of beautiful sound and feeling that is ultimately less monotonous than Kirby's work." To which Usher replied, "Man, I've heard that shit and I wasn't a fan. I feel like it's all been done before. The two are really incomparable in terms of class. Kirby's album is rich with metaphorical concept, and every element within it seems to underscore the dissonance that might result in a future of increasing density and speed. The Capital seems simple-minded by comparison. Anyone who disagrees quite obviously does not understand drone music." Enraged, I walked out in a huff, accidentally leaving my hard drive behind. Not that it matters, that buffoon wouldn't even know what to do when confronted with the next-level shit stored on that drive. Anyway, he pretty much ensured that "O.M.G." is the last single I'll be producing for him in a long time.

I don't get it. No one seems to like this record very much. But i think it's pretty enjoyable.

Best tracks: Most of them sound kind of the same. So, most of them.
